Amazon Nova AI Hackathon 2026: Complete Guide, Rules & Timeline

The Amazon Nova AI Hackathon is a global online hackathon hosted on Devpost and sponsored by Amazon Web Services (AWS). It invites developers, students, and professionals to build innovative generative AI applications using Amazon Nova models and tools.

Hackathon Timeline (Important Dates)

Who Can Participate?

The hackathon is open to:

  • Individuals or teams (students and professionals)

  • Participants must be 18 years or older

  • Global participation is allowed, except for a few restricted regions listed in the official rules

Participants may join multiple teams or submit as both an individual and a team member, provided all eligibility rules are followed.

Project Requirements-

To qualify, your submission must:

  • Be a Generative AI application built using Amazon Nova

  • Be newly created or significantly improved during the hackathon period

  • Function properly as demonstrated in the demo

  • Use only authorized third-party tools and APIs

Allowed Project Categories-

Your project must fit into at least one of the following categories:

  • Agentic AI

  • Multimodal Understanding

  • UI Automation

  • Voice AI

  • Freestyle (open innovation)

Submission Requirements-

Each submission must include:

  • A demo video (around 3 minutes) uploaded publicly

  • The hashtag #AmazonNova included with the video

  • A written project description explaining:

    • The problem you’re solving

    • How Amazon Nova is used

  • A link to your source code (public or shared privately for judging)

  • All content must be in English (or include an English translation)


Judging Criteria-

Projects are evaluated by an official judging panel based on:

  1. Technical Implementation – Effective and correct use of Amazon Nova

  2. Impact – Real-world usefulness or problem-solving value

  3. Creativity & Innovation – Originality and uniqueness of the idea

If scores are tied, judges use predefined tie-breaking rules.
